Beauty Photography

This beauty photograph was shot in a studio with a Nikon SLR camera and a Nikkor 105 f2.5 prime lens with Bowens studio flash and a softbox. The soft lighting brings out the subtle make up and with the use of only one light, the rest of the model blends into the background helping the viewer to focus on the face and shoulder. Beauty photography is quite challenging and this particular shot, amongst others, was taken after the model had her makeup and hair professionally applied and styled by a make up artist and hair stylist over a few hours prior to the actual photography session. Although some models are capable of applying their own make up and styling their own hair, the results are always superior when a professional make up artist & hair stylist are used even if it does involve waiting for a long period of time before the actual photography session can begin.
