Digital Camera: Fujifilm Finepix F20

Fujifilm introduces 6.3 megapixel Finepix F20 digital camera

Fujifilm's Finepix F20 digital camera is aimed at family members and beginners looking for an easy to use digital camera which is capable of producing high quality photographs in a variety of situations. The Finepix F20 is positioned below Fujifilm's high end Finepix F30 digital camera. The Fujifilm Finepix F20 offers a range of features which may appeal to the beginner or person looking for a second digital camera. These include a picture stabilisation mode, sensitivity upto ISO 2000 at full resolution, natural light mode for low light photographs without flash and a fast shutter lag of only .01 second with a start time of 1.4 seconds for fast shooting. The Fujifilm Finepix F20 will be available from August 2006 onwards at a recommended retail price of $299.

With the vast majority of camera makers using the same or similar CCDS which exhibit excessive noise at higher ISOs, it's refreshing to see a company investing heavily in an alternative CCD. Not only is the 6th generation Super CCD capable of high quality results at lower ISOs, it remains in a class of its own when it comes to taking high quality pictures at higher ISOs of between 400 and 1600. Hopefully other manufacturers will follow suit and invest more heavily in producing higher quality CCDs as opposed to cramming ever more pixels on a small chip.
